Brussels 5 is an international four-year professional training in the Feldenkrais Method. Beginning in January 2027, it brings together in-person segments, shorter online meetings and covers 800 hours of teaching.

Over the course of the training, participants refine their perception, deepen their understanding and develop the skills needed for professional practice.

The programme welcomes people from the arts, healthcare, education and sport, as well as anyone wishing to deepen their understanding of themselves and human movement.

Join the 4 days introductory workshop 

Whether you are considering the four-year Feldenkrais® Professional Training Programme or are simply curious about the method, this workshop offers practical tools to move, sense and learn differently.

Why participate?

These four days offer a firsthand experience of the dynamic, experiential approach of a professional training programme before making a longer commitment. 

Explore neuroplasticity and somatic learning in a practical way through an educational approach that supports agency, creativity and adaptability.

You will encounter neurosomatic strategies that can subtly reorganise habitual patterns and improve motor function and movement efficiency, sometimes in unexpected ways.

A haven in the city

Forest Lighthouse is a bright, calm learning space in Brussels’ Forest neighbourhood. Feldenkrais meets dance, martial arts, massage, somatic therapy and artistic projects here.

Natural light, books, paintings and plants give the centre its quiet character. Conversations continue through the breaks, while Duden and Forest parks are only a short walk away.

Learn through movement, over time

People join to enrich an existing practice, begin a new profession, move beyond limitations, navigate change, or simply deepen their understanding of themselves. Learning how to learn lies at the heart of the programme.

Two complementary approaches

Awareness Through Movement® uses verbally guided group lessons to refine perception and expand possibilities.

Functional Integration® is personalised, hands-on learning through touch and listening.

Year 1: foundations through sensation and observation.

Year 2: deepening ATM and FI, with first supervised teaching.

Year 3: moving towards independent practice.

Year 4: integration, professional practice, ethics and mentoring.

Your teaching team

Yvo Mentens certified Feldenkrais Trainer and educational director of Brussels 5, discovered the method more than thirty years ago. As co-founder of Feldenkrais Education, he now teaches in professional training programs in Europe, Asia, and the United States. His path has also included sociology, criminology, physical theatre, and several therapeutic approaches, bringing breadth and richness to his teaching.

Pia Appelquist Assistant Trainer in the Feldenkrais Method, brings decades of stage experience and a background in anthropology to a pedagogical approach shaped by curiosity, exploration, and the science of learning. She co-founded the Beliashe Institute – Center for Arts and Human Potential in Aurillac, where her work connects movement, learning, and transformation across a wide range of contexts.
